Prof. Zoltán Horváth is the head of the Department of Mathematics and Computational Sciences (since 2006), founder and leader of the Simulation and Optimization Research Group (2009) of Széchenyi István University, Győr, Hungary, and dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Informatics, and Electrical Engineering (since 2022). He received his MSc, PhD and habilitation from the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest. His research interest involves numerical analysis of differential equations, optimization, scientific computing, high-performance computing (HPC), and solving industry-driven mathematical problems of a broad scope. He led and contributed in many projects for SMEs and very large-scale industries, in particular in the automotive, transportation, logistics, environmental, and health sectors. He initiated and coordinated the establishment of HU-MATHS-IN, the Hungarian Service Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovations, which is the national node of EU-MATHS-IN in 2013. Since then he is the coordinator, and then president of HU-MATHS-IN. He was the proposer writer and project coordinator of a national project with other Hungarian universities to intensify the activities of HU-MATHS-IN between 2017 and 2021. In this project, the network launched over 35 short-time mathematics-oriented research projects and established strategic collaboration with 2 international very large companies for maths services. He served the European industrial community with being president of EU-MATHS-IN between December 2020 and November 2023. He has been participating in EU-supported projects (H2020, Horizon Europe) since 2016 continuously. The most recent project of this activity is the HiDALGO2 Centre of Excellence of the EuroHPC JU.
