Dr Eszter Lukács completed her doctoral studies at the Budapest Corvinus University, earning a PhD in International Studies. Following the completion of her degree, she began her teaching career at the predecessor institution of Széchenyi István University in Győr, Széchenyi István College. In 2018, she was appointed Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, and in 2021, she became Vice-Rector for International Affairs. Since 2022, she has continued her work as Vice- President for International Affairs and Strategic Relations. Due to her committed and persistent work in the internationalization of the institution, over the past few years the number of English-taught programmes offered by Széchenyi István University has increased tenfold, with the number of international students having grown by 80%. Her research areas, which have led to numerous national and international publications, include the economic development of Asia (East and Southeast Asia, China, India, ASEAN), foreign economic policy (FEP), higher education and international rankings. The most frequently taught courses in her teaching portfolio are Global Economics, Asian Studies, World Economy and Globalization, Applied World Economics and Hungary’s Foreign Economic Relations. In addition to her academic achievements, Dr Lukács has been actively involved in international affairs. Since 2008, she has been a member of the United Nations Association of Hungary and, in 2020, she was elected to its executive board. Since 2021, she has served as President of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference, and in 2023, she became a member of the Board of Trustees of the Tempus Public Foundation. In 2022, she was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary, and in 2024, in recognition of her outstanding work in teaching, research, and leadership, she received the Saint László Award.
